Girls Weekend + Weezer Concert

Phew! I had a busy, yet wonderful weekend! From a concert with the bestie, to my nephew's pool party, to a mini sleepover with a little girl I babysit - I had a fairly eventful weekend!

One of my best friends, Melanie, scored some tickets to the Weezer concert for Saturday night at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin. I have never been to the F1 track for a concert, or actually ever, so this was a cool experience for me.

It's about a forty-five minute drive from where we live, so this gave Mel & I plenty of time to just catch up (we both have pretty busy schedules so it's nice when they line up!). For those that do not know, I met Melanie at my first job ever at Twin Lakes Family YMCA in Cedar Park.
After about a year of working there, Melanie got hired on and we instantly clicked. Mel & I agree, there's always people you like hanging with at work, but not always people you like hanging with outside of work too. We got lucky though! Melanie is one of the sweetest and most caring people I've ever met & I'm so so so thankful for her friendship!
So quick story (sorry Mel): It's about a 7-10 minute walk from the parking lot to the amphitheater, and right when we were pretty close to the entrance, Melanie stops dead in her tracks. I immediately know why too. The look on her face was priceless. She left the tickets on her nightstand! Haha, typical Mel. Luckily, the person who gave them to her was able to send them via email. Anyway, through the bit of walking back and forth trying to figure out if we were going to have to drive home for the tickets, we missed the opening band, The Wombats. We didn't really care though so it was all good, plus I'd rather spend my time making fun of Mel anyway :)

After The Wombats played, The Pixies were up. I wasn't really familiar with their music, but found them to be pretty good and kept the audience engaged throughout their whole set.
Obviously after The Pixies, Weezer was next! They played many of their most popular songs, as well as a few I didn't know (I like Weezer a lot, but I wouldn't say I'm a die hard fan). They also did a couple covers during the concert, one being "Wonderwall" by Oasis.
Overall I did find this concert to be very unique, and it was obvious Weezer really captivated the whole audience until the end of the show. To quote one of my friends who also attended the concert, "The sets and wardrobe changed but the music stayed topnotch."

Then on Sunday, I went to the pool for my nephew's birthday party. Got a little sunburned, hahah.. per usual. #GingerLife

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures from the actual birthday party because I was only there for the swim time, but I did snap this cute picture of Paisley at the pool while we were there. Isn't she just the cutest?!

Then lastly, I spent Sunday evening with this cutie. I have been babysitting Emma & her brother for several years now. I've literally watched Emma since she was a baby and now this sweet girl is six!
Hunter was at a sleepover so we had a girls night! We went to Schlotzsky's and this little one showed me just how independent she was. As I was about to start ordering for us, she goes, "I want a ham and cheese sandwich with sour cream & onion chips, with a fountain drink," without missing a beat! I don't remember being so independent at that age!
Afterwards, we got frozen yogurt & little miss spilled both her first bowl and her second! Luckily, when she spilled the second, she was on her last bite. This was while she was cleaning herself up! Haha.
Then we ended the night with some typical girl time: doing her nails! She insisted one hand had pink & green and the other had pink & blue. Love this little girl to pieces.

Not a crazy weekend, but definitely one for the books with some of my favorite people.

How was everyone else's weekend? Got any plans for the 4th of July tomorrow?!
