What God is Trying to Teach Me

Sometimes God really tests us, and we're left wondering why, and what for.

Why do bad things happen? Why is God allowing this to happen to me? Why is He putting me through this? Is there something to be learned here? What is He trying to teach me?

These are questions I have been continually asking myself lately. And I'm sure some of you may have too. Maybe you did a few months ago, or last week, or maybe even today, just like me. Questioning why so many things around you seem to be falling apart and desperately trying to find a way to fix them.

It seems like it's just one thing after another these days, much like the saying goes; "When it rains, it pours." And wow, have I felt that lately. I don't say this for sympathy, I say this because it's the truth. Life isn't always rainbows and butterflies. Sometimes there's heartache, pain, suffering, confusion, and emptiness. And here we are, left longing to know how we will move forward, what will happen, and continuing to feel anxious and stressed over whats to come. But is it in our power to change what will happen? No, I don't think so. God knows what's going to happen before it does and it's up to us to hold our faith, especially when times get tough.

We want to fix things, we want to make them right. It's human nature. But maybe it's that we can't - at least not alone. God wants us to rely on Him, and turn to Him for healing.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 6-7

That's been one of my favorite bible verses for a long time, and I often refer back to it again and again. And each time, it reassures me that no matter what I'm going through, God has got my back. I may ask the questions above to myself, but I have to remember there's a reason I am being put through these trials and tribulations. I have to remind myself that God is probably trying to teach me something. I don't have all the answers, but I definitely feel God may be solely trying to teach me to trust in Him. To have faith in Him. To lay my heart out there and hand it over to Him

I'm sorry for the two back to back posts that have more to do with pain and suffering than anything else - as I do want my blog to be a place you come to feel inspired and refreshed. But I created this space to speak my truth - and with that is being honest, even through dark times. I guess I came here to be transparent, and to encourage anyone else going through a difficult time, to hold your faith, and trust in the path God has laid before you.

Coming up here pretty soon, I will be sharing a blog post titled, "Five Bloggers I Admire & Why," and as a little preview, one of those that will be featured is Tay Ruth. I'll explain more on why I admire her in the post, but one main reason is that she opens up the door wide to pray for others. She tends to put that in a lot of her posts, asking in what ways she can pray for you. And I have to say, that inspired me to do the same.

It goes without saying, but I'm asking you today, in what ways can I pray for you? Feel free to leave a comment or send an email or DM. And in closing, I encourage you to remember the verse above and trust that everything happens for a reason.
