Cheers to 2020

I'm a little late on posting this, but I figured I'd still share.
It's crazy how fast this past year flew by. I had many goals for 2019 (you can read them here) and while I accomplished a couple, most didn't happen unfortunately. However, I am at least thankful for the goals I did meet.

Anyway, for this New Year's post, I am sharing five specific things I want to do this year, some small, some big. I'm hoping by setting specific goals, I may follow through better than last year! Hope you enjoy!

ONE || PAINT MY MOMS HOUSE
This one definitely may seem super ordinary but the color of her walls has been driving me crazy (it's way more yellow than I'd prefer)! I definitely think lightening up the paint color will transform the space. This has been on my to-do list for a while, so I think it's finally time I get this done.

TWO || TAKE MORE PICTURES
I can thank my best friend Ashley for this goal. We have been friends since 6th grade, and we realized recently (at the age of 27), we are lacking in current pictures of us together. Therefore, we made a goal that in 2020 we'd take more together, and with this, I plan to take more pictures with my loved ones as well throughout the year as it's always good to be able to look back on memories!

THREE || MAKEOVER MY MOMS PANTRY
Another thing that has been on my to-do list for a while. My mom deserves a pantry makeover. I have a pinterest board dedicated to inspiration for this, and it's about time I cross this off my list. Plus it would give me another blog post to write & share which would make me a very happy gal 😍

FOUR || TRAVEL WITH MICHAEL
Michael and I have yet to travel a far(ish) distance together, and I would really like to. I'm not sure what will really be in our budget for the year, so it's hard to be specific with this one, but I am going to narrow it down between three options, all of which will make me happy:

  • Option #1: Experience the fall foliage up north: this has been a dream of mine for so long. I've lived in Texas my whole life, and have never experienced a colorful fall and it's been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. 🍂🍁🍂
  • Option #2: Go on a trip to Big Bend National Park! Texas is mostly flat & I'd love to hike and see God's beauty in the Lone Star State.
  • Option #3: Visit my family in Tennessee. I've done a couple posts on trips spent there as well as a post about my sister who lives there explaining her lifestyle (you can read them here, here, & here), but Michael has never met my sister and her family, or been to Tennessee so this would be a great option too. Plus it would be the most cost effective!

Hopefully one of those pans out during 2020!

FIVE || FIND A CHURCH I LOVE

If you know me well or did during my younger years, it's very possible you know I grew up going to church, being involved in a youth group, and attending church camps. For those that don't know, I grew up in a Baptist church, and while I have nothing against the baptist church I grew up in, I definitely see myself happier in a non-denominational church. I don't love to admit it, but this has been on the back burner for me for quite some time. I still attend my mother's church on occasion, but it's really to support her on holidays and/or special events. While I am a firm believer you don't need to go to church to believe in Christ or have a relationship with Him; I DO believe you can strengthen that relationship by attending a church that helps fuel that fire you have for God. With that said, I really want to dedicate some time this year to trying out different churches in the area with hopes that God leads me to a church that feels like home.

Well that wraps up my top (and specific) goals for the new year! If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post and it inspired you to set specific goals for yourself for the new year!
Have you already thought of some? Share them with me, I'd love to hear from you!
